Landon Wirt is a self-described “junior-and-a-half,” with three semesters of his collegiate career remaining at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is the senior sports editor at The Daily Nebraskan, the university’s student-run paper, and covers Husker football and men’s basketball. Originally hailing from Overland Park, Kansas, Landon is a double-major in sports media and communication and broadcasting with a minor in business.
Fun facts: “Big Kansas City sports fan (Chiefs, Royals, Sporting Kansas City). Grew up playing soccer from age 4-18, still play recreationally and follow the sport super closely. Am a passionate Oklahoma State sports fan (where my dad went to school) and still have nightmares about 2011 in Ames, Iowa. When I’m not writing or working, I enjoy exercising, spending time with friends, playing FIFA and attempting to fix my woeful golf game. The most memorable experience of my journalism career to-date was being at the 2020 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament the night the NBA — and eventually the world in the coming days — shut down due to COVID-19.”
